Artist Spotlight: Vintage Edison

At Ménage à Trois, we revel in finding unique ways of bottling the elements of wine into fun and flirtatious offerings for our fans to enjoy! So we’re excited to launch our Artist Spotlight series by introducing an artist who has blended his talents into an inspired collection all his own.

When a bartender with a familial knack for electrical work finds inspiration it can cause a certain light bulb to go off. Jim Ligon had such a revelation and soon began combining his two passions into a new creative venture – handcrafting beautiful, vintage-inspired light fixtures using recycled glass wine and liquor bottles.

Originally from New Orleans, Ligon’s electrical skillset came as a bit of family tradition. A family electrical repair business owned by his grandfather was the place where Ligon along with his father, uncles, and cousins all learned the trade. In addition to the valuable work experience, his grandfather also passed along a careful attention to detail that carries through to each and every fixture and custom job Jim produces.

In the five years since its inception, Vintage Edison has expand as new clients get word from satisfied former clients. From local small businesses to private homes, much of his creations are the byproduct of custom installation opportunities. This has not only meant more jobs, but an increased chance to create, fabricate and push his art in new directions.

“Going into a space, meeting the client, establishing the conversation, and merging visions is like a little puzzle to solve,” Ligon says.

Inspired by Jim’s passion and creativity, we asked him to design a unique piece featuring Ménage à Trois wine. When the piece was finished, we were thrilled to see how he brought our bottles to life.
