The Caipirinha Carnival Cocktail, Brazil’s National Drink, with A Ménage À Trois Twist

The beautiful land of Brazil plays host to the most celebrated event on the planet, the Rio Carnival, a weeklong celebration. 
Known as the Greatest Show on Earth, it’s a beautiful celebration brought to life through the beat of incredible Brazilian music, glittering, glimmering gold costumes, samba dancers, and of course great food and drink. We are honoring this momentous occasion, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro, by bringing you our own version of the infamous Caipirinha Carnival cocktail. The traditional Caipirinha is Brazil national drink and for Carnival they add blackberries for color, we’ve added pineapple and lime, to complement our lush, tropical fruit tasting notes .

Ingredients for the Gold Caipirinha Carnival Cocktail:
- 1 lime (sliced or quartered)
- 2 tsp. turbinado (cane sugar)
- 3 ounces Ménage àTrois Gold Chardonnay
- 1 cup ice
- Fresh sliced lime, pineapple and rosemary for garnish

Instructions to prepare the Gold Caipirinha Carnival Cocktail:
In a metal shaker, muddle the fresh limes with sugar until sugar is dissolved and fruit macerated. 
Add 1 cup ice to shaker and pour in Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay. 
Cover shaker with lid and shake vigorously for 1 minute. 
Pour into tall glass, garnish with pineapple, lime and sprig of rosemary, serve and enjoy.

Introducing the Ménage à Trois Mangomisu

Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to introduce you to our Ménage à Trois Gold Mangomisu. This thick, rich dessert, inspired by the buttery finish of our delectable chardonnay, will have everyone wanting dessert first. It touts the tangy taste of mango, mingled with the opulent tropical and French vanilla notes of Gold. Our recipe will help you create single servings, because we always encourage you to share something this sweet with a friend or two.
 
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 8.8oz containers mascarpone
1/2 cup Ménage à Trois Gold
4 8 oz. packages of lady fingers (may use lady finger biscuits)
¾ cup unsalted butter
2 packets unflavored gelatin powder
4 mangoes, pureed (or 1-2 8 oz. packages of frozen mangoes, thawed)
 
Part 1 - Mascarpone Filling:
Place sugar and 1 cup water in a pan over medium/medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Keep on warm/low heat until needed.
Whisk eggs in a stand mixer on medium speed until pale and frothy. Gradually pour warm sugar syrup over eggs in a thin, steady stream, then increase speed to high and whisk for 10 minutes or until pale and completely cooled.
Whisk in the mascarpone, then gradually whisk in 1/4 cup Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay. Cover with plastic wrap, ensuring wrap touches the inside of bowl and top of mascarpone layer so a skin does not form. Refrigerate until needed.
 
Part 2 - Lady Finger Filling:
Pulse the lady fingers in a food processor until crumbs form.
Melt the butter in a frypan over medium heat for 3 minutes or until nut-brown and fragrant. Add the melted butter with the lady finger crumbs, and mix to combine. Set aside until you’re ready to assemble.

Part 3 - Mango Filling:
Follow the instructions on the unflavored gelatin package and set aside.
Puree fresh mangoes in a food processor or with blender until consistency is smooth. You may substitute frozen mangoes, but thaw them beforehand.
Place mango the puree in a pan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Add the gelatin and stir until everything is thoroughly mixed.
 
Part 4 - Constructing your Ménage à Trois Mangomisu:
Press half of the lady finger mixture into the base of a 1.5L (6 cup) trifle bowl. Drizzle layer with 2 tbs. Gold Chardonnay, then cover with half the mascarpone mixture. Chill for 30 min to set the mascarpone layer before layering with half of the mango puree.
Press remaining lady finger mixture over the top of the mango layer and drizzle with another 2 tbs. Gold Chardonnay. Top with remaining half of the mascarpone layer and chill again before covering with remaining mango puree. Chill until ready to serve.
To garnish, slice fresh mangoes and layer of the top and/or sprinkle with shaved white chocolate.

Imagine the crowd cheering and the diehard fans debating defense, all while you surreptitiously scout out the best tight end, ifyaknowwhatwemean.
 
Arguably best of all is the thrilling anticipation of who will win. In the spirit of that excitement, get ready to toast the champs (or sip your sorrows away) with our All-Star Strawberry Bellini made with Ménage à Trois Prosecco. So fresh and invigorating, you’ll want to enjoy this MVP mix from kickoff ’til the fourth quarter.
 
Cocktail Ingredients:
3 ounces Ménage à Trois Prosecco
1½ - 2 ounces strawberry puree
 
Strawberry Puree Ingredients:
1 lb (16 oz) frozen strawberries or 1 pint fresh strawberries
3 tbs honey or sugar
 
Directions for Strawberry Puree:
Wash and remove stems from fresh strawberries. If using frozen strawberries, thaw for 10 minutes. Place strawberries in a blender or food processor and emulsify until liquid consistency. Add honey or sugar to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Directions for Cocktail:
In a champagne flute, pour approximately 1½ to 2 ounces of strawberry puree into bottom of glass. Top with 3 ounces of prosecco. Garnish with chocolate covered strawberry and enjoy!
 
Along with your cocktail, try serving Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Footballs. A treat that’s sweet no matter the score, this riff on the chocolate-covered strawberry is nothing short of game-day ready.
 
Ingredients for Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Footballs.
16 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (may use milk or dark chocolate if preferable)
16 ounces white chocolate
1 piping bag with small round tip
1 baking sheet lined with wax paper
 
Directions:
Wash and gently pat dry 1 pint of fresh strawberries. Side aside and line a baking sheet with wax paper. Melt semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 15 second intervals until chocolate is melted completely with a smooth consistency. Pull the leaves of the strawberry up and over the stem, then dip in chocolate to cover approximately ¾ of fruit. Set onto wax paper. Once all strawberries are covered in chocolate, refrigerate for 10 min to set chocolate. In a separate microwave safe bowl, melt white chocolate and fill piping bag. Remove strawberries from refrigerator cut a small slit down back of strawberry, closer to the tip, careful not to cut strawberry in half. Flip to the other side and pipe white chocolate to imitate laces on a football. Refrigerate to set.

It all starts with Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay, a smooth and satisfying varietal that merges with sweet apple cider and a splash of sparkling water. Garnished with fresh apple and a sprig of cinnamon, the resulting cocktail is a bold, exciting treat for the senses. Stir it up — adventure awaits!
 
Ingredients:
1 bottle Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay
4 cups apple cider
4 cans sparkling water/club soda
1 large apple
1 lemon
1 cup water
 
Directions:
1. In a large pitcher, mix 1 bottle of Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay and apple cider.
2. Chill until ready to serve. To serve, add ice to glass. Fill glasses 2/3 of the way with cocktail and top the remaining 1/3 with soda water.
3. Be careful not to over stir once club soda/soda water is added, as cocktail will flatten.
4. Slice apple and soak in lemon juice and water mixture to prevent fruit from browning.
5. To garnish, add cinnamon stick and slice of apple to cocktail, serve and enjoy!

But often this artisan fare can be intimidating — especially if you don’t know which end is up when faced with an overwhelming charcuterie selection. We’ve put together a few helpful combinations so you can pull off this menu favorite at your next party or gathering. After all, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on the ultimate threesome: meat, cheese, and Ménage à Trois wine!
 
Pairing with Ménage à Trois Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir’s lightness (comparative to other reds) makes it ideal for a charcuterie pairing. Try a few salty slices of prosciutto or Jamon Iberico to complement this varietal’s soft tannins. When it comes to cheese, you pretty much can’t go wrong with Pinot’s versatile profile. Try a gruyère or goat cheese to start. Wine Bottle Workout: Try Our 2-Week Tone-Up Challenge

If your New Year’s resolution involves getting in shape, staying healthy, and actually using that gym membership this year, we can safely say you’re not alone. However, staying motivated as the months go by is half the challenge — unless you have a specific goal in mind. And at Ménage à Trois, we’re all for a little positive motivation (in the form of wine, no doubt). Plus, if your kind of workout involves our tempting varietals, then this challenge is definitely for you.
 
As much as we’d like to think lifting a wine glass to our lips is the only workout we need, getting toned requires a bit more heavy lifting. Luckily, these exercises still involve wine — two bottles, in fact. The challenge is simple, requires no gym equipment and can be done at home. The only items you need are two bottles of Ménage à Trois — any varietals will do.
 
The Ménage à Trois 2-Week Arm Tone-Up Challenge
Exercise 1: The Bent-Over Row
With a wine bottle in each hand, stand with your feet hip-distance apart and bend slightly at the knees while keeping your back almost parallel to the floor. Keeping your arms bent, squeeze your lats/shoulders together and hold at the top. Slowly lower back to your starting position. Do 10-12 reps.
 
Exercise 2: Lateral Arm Raises
Stand with your feet hip-distance apart. Hold a bottle in each hand with your palms facing down. Keeping your arms straight, slowly raise them up until they are parallel with the ground, then lower. Do 10-12 reps.
 
Exercise 3: Overhead Triceps Extensions
Stand with your feet hip-distance apart and hold one wine bottle above your head with both hands. Slowly bend at the elbows to lower the bottle behind your head. Extend your arms back up overhead. Do 10-12 reps.
 
Complete the circuit every other day (or every day, if you’re feeling ambitious) for two weeks for toner, tighter arm muscles. As a bonus, uncork and enjoy your bottles of wine after the challenge is complete!
