WINE ATTITUDE

Not to intrude on your personal affairs, but here’s a suggestion for the perfect Ménage à Trois: you, your significant other and a bottle of Ménage à Trois Chardonnay. A sensual blend of grapes from three signature California wine regions, this silky Chardonnay seduces with great body, luscious flavors and a delicious kiss of oak.

VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING

Although it’s a tad risqué, Ménage à Trois 2015 Chardonnay has an impeccable, California coastal pedigree. To enhance its delicious fruity flavors, we fermented the wine with a special French yeast (but of course!), induced partial malolactic fermentation, and coupled the creamy result with French and American oak, thus delighting Chardonnay hedonists everywhere.

3 Ways to Prevent Red Wine Teeth Stains

We can’t think of many drawbacks when it comes to enjoying a glass of Ménage à Trois Red at a party, except for one: the dreaded red wine smile. These hard-to-remove teeth stains strike when you least expect it, making an off-putting appearance in that group shot or throwing off your selfie game. But fear not, red wine lovers: we’ve discovered three ways to avoid the rouge-tinted grin—without avoiding the red wine.

1. Sip on sparkling water. The fizziness will help rinse away the red from your pearly whites.

2. Snack on fibrous foods. Leafy greens like spinach function as a brush to help minimize any stains.

3. Brush up an hour before. Plaque is a magnet for dark beverages—polish that smile about 60 minutes prior to sipping to keep any redness at bay.

May Advice: Gemini Gone Wild

Introducing Ménage à Trois Advice, where once a month, we put in our three cents on matters of money, love, life and, of course, wine.

You Ask…
By day, I’m a reserved professional with a penchant for being cautious and composed. By night, however, my Gemini alter ego runs wild. I become an obnoxiously outgoing risk taker with a flair for the dramatic. Recently, I spent a rambunctious evening out with colleagues—and now I’m worried they’ll never see me as the quiet and clearheaded worker that I am. How do I balance my buttoned-up side with my closeted desire to get a little wild and crazy?

…We Tell
At Ménage à Trois, we’re all for exploring the depths of every flavor profile—that goes for wines and personalities alike. As a Gemini, you’re bound to grapple with your sign’s signature split personality. And we say, embrace it! Like a fine wine, you are a unique blend with subtle nuances that stand out depending on what you pair them with. And as for your coworkers? They’ll come to respect your exciting duality—whether your conservative or kooky side comes out, you’ll always keep them on their toes.

Wine Confession

You’ll treasure the pleasure of our passionate taste. Think of it as a bold tango dance across your palate, leading with a splendid blend of blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, and hints of spice. We’ll bring out the thrillseeker in you with an outrageously opulent texture of soft, round tannins, and a long, velvety finish. Your time has come to go on an exotic adventure, with us, where no passport is needed — just a corkscrew, a few wine glasses, and your lust for life.

WINE ATTITUDE

Are you looking for a little excitement? Something out of the ordinary? A foreign fling, if you will? Then look no further! An exotic adventure awaits—no passport required—just a corkscrew and a couple of glasses. Experience the pleasure of Argentina in every sip of our lush Malbec. Though it breaks our rule of three, it is a Ménage à Trois in style and substance—an indulgent, delicious dalliance in every way.

VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING

A native of France, Malbec is one of the traditional blending grapes used to add oomph to Bordeaux blends. Once in the shadow of its more famous cousins, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec finally found its true home—and the praise it deserves—in the warm, sunny climate of Argentina’s famous Mendoza region where the varietal can reach its fullest potential. Here, the small, dark, juicy grapes express an intensity befitting their adopted home, which our winemakers translate beautifully in every bottle. Made in a lush, balanced style with jammy flavors kissed with a whisper of toasted oak, our Malbec will sweep you off your feet in a passionate embrace.

Get the Most Out of Leftover Wine

When it comes to wine, we’re all about the waste not, want not mentality. But how long does an open bottle actually last? The moment the cork comes out, air begins the oxidation process and prompts the varietal’s naturally present bacteria to turn the sugars into grape juice or the alcohol into acetic acid. This is what gives spoiled wine its unpalatable vinegar odor and flavor.

Knowing when to toast or when to toss that uncorked Ménage à Trois Cabernet or Rosé can mean the difference between enjoying every last sip or experiencing that unpleasant, sour aftertaste. To avoid the latter, we’ve put together a few helpful tips based on the freshness timelines for different varietals, plus other uses for leftover bottles so that not a drop of precious wine goes to waste.

Sparkling Wine
• Good for: 1 - 3 days
• Store: in the fridge with a sparkling wine stopper
• Use Every Last Drop: by making a Ménage à Trois Prosecco face mask! Mix one part bubbly with one part cream and two parts pre-made clay mask. Apply to face and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off.

Light White, Sweet White & Rosé Wine
• Good for: 5 - 7 days
• Store: in the fridge with a cork or stopper
• Use Every Last Drop: to remove grease stains. Mix whites with baking soda, pour onto the stain, and let soak before wiping away.

Full-Bodied White Wine
• Good for: 3 - 5 days
• Store: in the fridge with a cork or stopper
• Use Every Last Drop: to remove red wine stains. That’s right, pouring a little white on red and letting it soak will help get out stubborn spots.

Red Wine
• Good for: 3 - 5 days
• Store: in a cool, dark place with a cork
• Use Every Last Drop: to clean veggies. Mixed with water, red wine will help kill bacteria found on produce.

Cinco de Mayo Cocktail: Ménage-à-Rita

Shake things up this month with a mouthwatering Ménage à Trois cocktail recipe remix. A nod to the traditional Cinco de Mayo drink, this Margarita-Rosé mashup features a refreshing blend of summery rosé, smooth tequila and seasonal fruits. Crisp and light with a dash of lemon juice and a hint of sweetness, the Ménage-à-Rita makes any May day one worth celebrating.

Ingredients:

• 2 strawberries, hulled, sliced
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 2 ounces Tres Agaves Tequila
• 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
• 3/4 ounce Ménage à Trois Rosé

Directions:
Muddle strawberries and sugar in a cocktail shaker until lightly crushed. Add tequila, lemon juice, Ménage à Trois Rosé, and a single large ice cube. Cover and shake until outside of the shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Pour drink with ice cube into a rocks glass (do not strain).

White Wine Chills Out with These Serving Tips

Exotic vacations, five-star cuisines, pulse-racing romance—some things are best served hot. White wine, however scintillating our Ménage à Trois varietals may be, is not one of them. To quickly cool off your Chardonnay or lower the temps on a Sauvignon Blanc, follow these tips before you sip for a speedy cool down.

Coddle Your Bottle
Wrap your varietal in a damp towel, then place in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes. The wetness from the towel will help cool down the bottle at a faster pace.

Drop In Frozen Grapes
Use frozen grapes in place of ice cubes to quickly cool off your glass without diluting the wine.

Dip Into an Ice Bath
Place your wine bottle in an ice bucket with ice water and a pinch of salt. The salt lowers the freezing temperature of the water, enabling the ice to cool off the water (and thus, your wine) at a quicker rate.

Temperature Tips
If you have more time to turn down the temps, follow this standard for white wine chilling: High acid wines should be stored at about 45 degrees, while rich whites should be stored closer to 50 degrees. If the temperature is too cold, the flavors will be suppressed. If it’s too warm, the acidity and minerals of the wine won’t be properly expressed.

April Taurus Advice: How to Be More Optimistic

Introducing Ménage à Trois Advice, where once a month, we put in our three cents on matters of money, love, life and, of course, wine.

You Ask...
Lately, it seems that my proverbial wine glass is always half empty. I feel like everything is running askew, and I can’t help but think negatively in every situation. How do I take a more optimistic approach to life in general?

...We Tell
Why have a half empty wine glass when it can be half full? Or better yet, overflowing? It’s quite alright to be pessimistic about certain things—some people might call that being realistic. But if you’re looking to channel good vibes, remember this: positivity is all about perspective. Pick a person, location or situation that you come in contact with, and write down three things about them that you like. Do this several times a day, and pretty soon your glass will indeed be overflowing with positive thoughts.

Fan Pick of the Week: @legrandlife

We really loved our fan's digital artwork and had to learn more about her wine and art process.

MAT: What is your favorite Ménage à Trois wine and why?
Cindy L.: My favorite Ménage à Trois wine is Silk. It is just so smooth, and doesn't feel heavy even as the weather is getting warmer where I live.

MAT: How was this photo created?
Cindy L.: [Each Ménage à Trois piece] was created in Adobe Photoshop CC. Each one began with the same image of the three wine bottles captured with my DSLR. In Photoshop, I blended the wine bottle image with various other background images and added some finishing details (paint strokes, washes of color, text, etc.)

MAT: How long have you been creating digital art?
Cindy L.:  I have been creating digital art for several years, but just got serious about it about 1 1/2 years ago.

MAT: Do you have any tips for a beginner trying to get into digital art?
Cindy L.: There are many great resources for getting started in digital art, but my favorite is the Sebastian Micheal's Photoshop Artistry course: http://photoshopgrunge.com.
