Trending Now: Our Team’s Fashion Musts for Fall

If you’re even the slightest bit obsessed with fashion, you know that the new season only means one thing: new clothes—and the perfect excuse to go shopping. From rich, autumnal color palettes to the latest cozy layers, we’re all about fall’s most in-demand looks. So, in honor of New York Fashion week (and all things fabulous), we asked our team to talk about their favorite fall fashion trends. Here’s what they said:

“The military trend in menswear is about function just as much as fashion. My must is an Army-green jacket with plenty of spacious pockets.” - Jesse B.

“Hands down, plaid is my favorite fall trend. A bold tartan button-down and distressed boyfriend jeans will definitely be my go-to weekend look all season.” - Jennifer I.

“I love that turtlenecks are making a comeback. Cozy and chic? That’s always a 'do' in my book.” - Adriana H.

Happy Hour Appetizer: Chorizo Bites

Ridiculously flavorful and just a touch spicy, these quick and easy chorizo bites take happy hour to a new level of deliciousness. What’s more, they complement our new Silk wine—an incredibly smooth, irresistibly bright red blend with notes of raspberry and rose petals. What are you waiting for? It’s five o’clock somewhere! Recipe by Justine, written originally for Cooking and Beer.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
16 ounces Mexican-style chorizo sausage links, cut into 1-inch pieces
3/4 cup Ménage à Trois Red
fresh loaf of artisan bread

Instructions
In a large nonstick skillet, add the oil. Heat over medium-high heat and then add the chorizo. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until lightly brown. Add the wine and reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes or until the wine has reduced and the chorizo has cooked through.

Serve the red wine chorizo bites with fresh bread and enjoy immediately!

September Horoscope: Virgo & Pinot

Happy Birthday, Virgo!
Witty and well-spoken Virgo, it’s time for a little soul searching and exploration this month. Perhaps you're pondering a big life change? A faraway vacation? A new relationship? Think about it, then be sure to follow through. But a word to the wise, intelligent earth sign: don’t let your meticulous side get in the way of having a little fun! Try to put your practicality on the back burner—if only for a few hours—and enjoy a well-deserved indulgence.

Your Virgo Varietal: Pinot Noir
Your sign’s strict attention to detail will come in handy when sipping this beautifully complex wine. With violet aromas that give way to juicy black cherry flavors and a silky smooth finish, this is a full-bodied blend that even a perfectionist Virgo can get on board with.

Fashion Week Edition: Trends We Hope NEVER Come Back

Every season, New York Fashion Week becomes the birthplace of countless new trends that the style crowd goes crazy for. However, not every in-demand look is as fresh and fashion-forward as it seems. When it comes to the rotating trends of this style-savvy industry, nothing holds truer than the mantra “Everything old is new again.” Just look at some of fall’s most-wanted pieces: flare jeans, plaid everything, Bohemian accessories and more are all reminiscent of earlier decades. And while we can certainly get on board with a cozy tartan flannel and a flattering pair of bellbottoms, some styles should definitely stay dead (looking at you, '80s shoulder pads).

As Spring 2016 Fashion Week comes to a close, here are a few trends we hope never make a comeback on the runways.

1.Extremely Low-Rise Pants: Just a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.

2.Huge Shoulder Pads: Unless you’re prone to getting tackled, there’s no need to purposefully look like a linebacker.

3.Velour Track Suits: Soft as they may be, this matchy-matchy look made popular by Cali celebs and reality stars has thoroughly worn out its welcome. Bonus offense: pants with a certain brand printed across the back coupled with a notorious pair of shearling boot .

From playful prints to bold and bright solids seen on and off the runway, the silk scarf (and Silk wine, of course) is an absolute must for the season. New to the silken accessory? Here are our top trois ways to wear it.

Spill Seekers: Clever Ways to Remove Your Red Wine Oops

The dreaded red wine spill—we’ve all been there. From colossal cab sauv spills to major merlot mishaps, there’s no greater wardrobe malfunction than a giant wine stain on your favorite white dress. While stain removers and cleaners can work wonders, they’re not always available when a vino emergency strikes. Instead, try out these clever tricks using everyday (and unexpected) items to rewind your red wine oops.

Rub Salt on the (Wine) Wound
This handy mineral—found in pretty much every restaurant and personal pantry—comes to the rescue for wine spills that are still wet. To remove the spillage, cover the spot completely and let sit for about an hour. The salt should absorb the wine (if the fabric has yet to soak up the spill), which you can then brush off.

Kitty Litter? Works Purrfectly
Believe it or not, clean kitty litter can prevent a red wine cat-tastrophe (yes, we went there). Just sprinkle about a half-inch layer of this highly absorbent material over the stain, then gently press down on the litter to help soak up the liquid. Once you’re done, simply vacuum it up. Similar to salt, this method works best when the wine spill is still wet.

The White Knight: White Wine & Baking Soda
This wine-on-wine method calls for white wine and baking soda to remove the stain. First, soak the item in white wine. Then, create a baking soda paste by mixing three parts baking soda with one part water. Spread the mixture on the stain and let sit for about an hour, then wash as normal. A word to the wise: while some people swear that white wine will dilute the stain, others claim it makes the stain worse. If you’re wary, swap the white wine for water instead.

ICONIC WINE BRAND LAUNCHES MÉNAGE À TROIS SILK, A SOFT RED BLEND

Portfolio now includes a threesome of red blends: Red, Midnight and Silk

St. Helena, CA September 3, 2015 – The iconic wine brand, Ménage à Trois, announced today that it has launched a new wine, Ménage à Trois Silk. A blend of Pinot Noir, Malbec and Petite Sirah, Ménage à Trois Silk is a soft red wine created as a new option for red wine drinkers in the growing Red Blend category.

The Red Blend category (+16%) is outpacing the total wine category growth and is close to becoming a billion dollar category in a scan environment.* “No wine other brand is better positioned to introduce a unique new red blend into the market,” noted Mark Dunlea, marketing director for the brand. “Ménage à Trois is the fastest growing 750 ml wine brand** in the industry and is widely credited as being the brand that created the domestic premium red blend category.”

One year ago, Ménage à Trois introduced Ménage à Trois Midnight – a dark red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot. Consumers loved the red blend alternative, and Ménage à Trois Midnight became the most successful new wine item of 2014.*** A dark inky red wine with a black cherry and currant flavor profile, Ménage à Trois Midnight was crafted for the wine drinker that seeks a robust, rich wine profile. Ménage à Trois Silk was created for the red wine drinker who prefers a softer, lighter-bodied red wine with less oak characteristics.

According to Glenn Andrade, vice president of winemaking, “Silk is bright red ruby in color with bing cherry and raspberry aromatics, a spice component of dried flowers and a soft and graceful mouthfeel.” Dunlea added, “Ménage à Trois Midnight is dark and mysterious; whereas, Ménage à Trois Silk is soft and elegant on the palate.”

Both Silk and Midnight red wine blends retail for $13.99 and are available nationwide. For bottle shots click here and for tasting notes click here.

The Ménage à Trois wine portfolio now boasts 15 exciting offerings. In the past two years, Ménage à Trois has launched three new wines: Silk, Midnight and an Italian Prosecco DOC made from 100% Glera Grapes.
