It’s Almost Time for a Spring Fling…

Warmer weather is right around the corner, which means it’s almost time for a spring fling—one that involves flinging off all those bulky winter layers in favor of a lighter lineup with a touch more skin. If you’re feeling especially flirtatious as we often do at Ménage à Trois, think of it as a demure way of undressing in public. As they say, take it off!

While you’re lightening up the layers in your closet, take the opportunity to lighten up the wine in your glass. Our Ménage à Trois Moscato is a refreshing, oh-so-satisfying blend that beckons warmer weather when served chilled. Crisp and exhilarating, it’s almost as stimulating as feeling that first burst of fresh spring air on your newly liberated skin. As a bonus, whites tend to be lighter in calories than reds or sweet wines, so you can indulge freely (or should we say, threely) in Ménage à Trois’s fairer varietals.

Introducing the Ménage à Trois Mangomisu

Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to introduce you to our Ménage à Trois Gold Mangomisu. This thick, rich dessert, inspired by the buttery finish of our delectable chardonnay, will have everyone wanting dessert first. It touts the tangy taste of mango, mingled with the opulent tropical and French vanilla notes of Gold. Our recipe will help you create single servings, because we always encourage you to share something this sweet with a friend or two.

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 8.8oz containers mascarpone
1/2 cup Ménage à Trois Gold
4 8 oz. packages of lady fingers (may use lady finger biscuits)
¾ cup unsalted butter
2 packets unflavored gelatin powder
4 mangoes, pureed (or 1-2 8 oz. packages of frozen mangoes, thawed)

Part 1 - Mascarpone Filling:
Place sugar and 1 cup water in a pan over medium/medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Keep on warm/low heat until needed.
Whisk eggs in a stand mixer on medium speed until pale and frothy. Gradually pour warm sugar syrup over eggs in a thin, steady stream, then increase speed to high and whisk for 10 minutes or until pale and completely cooled.
Whisk in the mascarpone, then gradually whisk in 1/4 cup Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay. Cover with plastic wrap, ensuring wrap touches the inside of bowl and top of mascarpone layer so a skin does not form. Refrigerate until needed.

Part 2 - Lady Finger Filling:
Pulse the lady fingers in a food processor until crumbs form.
Melt the butter in a frypan over medium heat for 3 minutes or until nut-brown and fragrant. Add the melted butter with the lady finger crumbs, and mix to combine. Set aside until you’re ready to assemble.

Part 3 - Mango Filling:
Follow the instructions on the unflavored gelatin package and set aside.
Puree fresh mangoes in a food processor or with blender until consistency is smooth. You may substitute frozen mangoes, but thaw them beforehand.
Place mango the puree in a pan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Add the gelatin and stir until everything is thoroughly mixed.

Part 4 - Constructing your Ménage à Trois Mangomisu:
Press half of the lady finger mixture into the base of a 1.5L (6 cup) trifle bowl. Drizzle layer with 2 tbs. Gold Chardonnay, then cover with half the mascarpone mixture. Chill for 30 min to set the mascarpone layer before layering with half of the mango puree.
Press remaining lady finger mixture over the top of the mango layer and drizzle with another 2 tbs. Gold Chardonnay. Top with remaining half of the mascarpone layer and chill again before covering with remaining mango puree. Chill until ready to serve.
To garnish, slice fresh mangoes and layer of the top and/or sprinkle with shaved white chocolate.

A Stimulating Time for Solar Sciences & Wine

Tomorrow night, true romantics and stargazers alike, will delight in what’s known as a Penumbral Eclipse. This bold phenomenon occurs when the sun, earth, and moon align in a linear formation. It’s purely captivating.

One of the most exceptional aspects of this happening is that you won’t even need a telescope or anything too scientific to feast your eyes upon its sheer, gorgeous presence. While a small telescope or binoculars could help bring out the details of the lunar surface, the only equipment we recommend is a bottle of Ménage à Trois Silk, or of course, Midnight.

The unadulterated truth is, while viewing such a natural wonder, you may begin to feel small. Embrace it, stay with it, feel it in your soul and feel yourself grow. For this, because there will also be a chill in the air, you might want to bundle up in a cozy blanket with all those deep thoughts. Though all the science might be invigorating enough to keep you warm, we’re sure this could be a divine moment to share with a unique star in your life.

If you brave the weather for the view, let us know how you made it through the dark. We love hearing from our adventurous friends out in the universe.

Is It Your First Time? Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Silk

We remember our first time like it was yesterday—unabashedly romantic, intensely passionate and utterly unforgettable. Of course, we’re talking about spending Valentine’s Day with that extra-special someone for the very first time.

In honor of this inaugural celebration, might we suggest skipping the clichéd roses and chocolates in favor for something flirtatiously fun and totally romantic? After all, you only get one chance to make a first impression, so uncork the passion and make it count with
Ménage à Trois.

A Silky Smooth Surprise
Expose your softer side with a bottle of Ménage à Trois Silk, a smooth-and-sensual red with fragrances of violets and berries that caress the palette. Now, write an adoring, captivating love poem that will capture your partner’s heart, making them swoon with delight.
You don’t have to be a poet to achieve this, just write from your heart and soul.

Sweet Somethings
If you’re really set on the candy route, why not make it more personalized than a store-bought box of chocolates? Round up a variety of your partner’s go-to indulgences and wrap them in a gift basket. If they’re more of the cake-and-cupcakes type, whip up their favorite dessert and serve post romantic dinner.

A Night of Firsts
In the spirit of spending your first Valentine’s Day together, why not try something else for the first time to celebrate? Perhaps it’s dinner at a restaurant you’ve been wanting to try, or cozying up with a movie you both missed in theaters. Adding another new experience will make the night all the more memorable.

Everyone Wins With This All-Star Strawberry Bellini

Gather your friends around the big screen and get your game face on: it’s every football’s favorite Sunday! During this all-American tradition (or what some may dub an honorary holiday), hosting a game-day party is half the fun—scratch that, it’s ALL the fun. Just picture platters filled with delectable finger foods and an ongoing clinking of glasses in honor of your favorite team. Imagine the crowd cheering and the diehard fans debating defense, all while you surreptitiously scout out the best tight end, ifyaknowwhatwemean.

Arguably best of all is the thrilling anticipation of who will win. In the spirit of that excitement, get ready to toast the champs (or sip your sorrows away) with our All-Star Strawberry Bellini made with Ménage à Trois Prosecco. So fresh and invigorating, you’ll want to enjoy this MVP mix from kickoff ’til the fourth quarter.

Cocktail Ingredients:
3 ounces Ménage à Trois Prosecco
1½ - 2 ounces strawberry puree

Strawberry Puree Ingredients:
1 lb (16 oz) frozen strawberries or 1 pint fresh strawberries
3 tbs honey or sugar

Directions for Strawberry Puree:
Wash and remove stems from fresh strawberries. If using frozen strawberries, thaw for 10 minutes. Place strawberries in a blender or food processor and emulsify until liquid consistency. Add honey or sugar to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Directions for Cocktail:
In a champagne flute, pour approximately 1½ to 2 ounces of strawberry puree into bottom of glass. Top with 3 ounces of prosecco. Garnish with chocolate covered strawberry and enjoy!

Along with your cocktail, try serving Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Footballs. A treat that’s sweet no matter the score, this riff on the chocolate-covered strawberry is nothing short of game-day ready.

Ingredients for Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Footballs.
16 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (may use milk or dark chocolate if preferable)
16 ounces white chocolate
1 piping bag with small round tip
1 baking sheet lined with wax paper

Directions:
Wash and gently pat dry 1 pint of fresh strawberries. Side aside and line a baking sheet with wax paper. Melt semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 15 second intervals until chocolate is melted completely with a smooth consistency. Pull the leaves of the strawberry up and over the stem, then dip in chocolate to cover approximately ¾ of fruit. Set onto wax paper. Once all strawberries are covered in chocolate, refrigerate for 10 min to set chocolate. In a separate microwave safe bowl, melt white chocolate and fill piping bag. Remove strawberries from refrigerator cut a small slit down back of strawberry, closer to the tip, careful not to cut strawberry in half. Flip to the other side and pipe white chocolate to imitate laces on a football. Refrigerate to set.

Apple Cider Chardonnay Spritz: See What the Gold Fizz Is All About

Here at Ménage à Trois, we’re always up for a little exploring and down to try new things — especially in the new year. But if cliff diving and parachuting aren’t quite your cup of tea, perhaps an invigorating new cocktail will tempt your unbridled sense of adventure. Our lively Apple Cider Chardonnay Spritz is all about the fresh, crisp fizz and luscious, full-bodied Gold Chardonnay that combine for a flavor profile that’s new, now and WOW.

It all starts with Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay, a smooth and satisfying varietal that merges with sweet apple cider and a splash of sparkling water. Garnished with fresh apple and a sprig of cinnamon, the resulting cocktail is a bold, exciting treat for the senses. Stir it up — adventure awaits!

Ingredients:
1 bottle Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay
4 cups apple cider
4 cans sparkling water/club soda
1 large apple
1 lemon
1 cup water

Directions:
1. In a large pitcher, mix 1 bottle of Ménage à Trois Gold Chardonnay and apple cider.
2. Chill until ready to serve. To serve, add ice to glass. Fill glasses 2/3 of the way with cocktail and top the remaining 1/3 with soda water.
3. Be careful not to over stir once club soda/soda water is added, as cocktail will flatten.
4. Slice apple and soak in lemon juice and water mixture to prevent fruit from browning.
5. To garnish, add cinnamon stick and slice of apple to cocktail, serve and enjoy!

How to Put Together a Flawless Charcuterie Board

There’s something undeniably satisfying about the timeless pairing of cured meats and gourmet cheeses with your favorite glass of wine. But often this artisan fare can be intimidating — especially if you don’t know which end is up when faced with an overwhelming charcuterie selection. We’ve put together a few helpful combinations so you can pull off this menu favorite at your next party or gathering. After all, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on the ultimate threesome: meat, cheese, and Ménage à Trois wine!

Pairing with Ménage à Trois Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir’s lightness (comparative to other reds) makes it ideal for a charcuterie pairing. Try a few salty slices of prosciutto or Jamon Iberico to complement this varietal’s soft tannins. When it comes to cheese, you pretty much can’t go wrong with Pinot’s versatile profile. Try a gruyère or goat cheese to start. If you’re feeling adventurous, serve with dried figs and a handful of nuts.

Pairing with Ménage à Trois California White
This light-and-bright white is the ideal foil to salty, savory meats like salumi or salami. For cheese, pair a soft brie or bold blue with this refreshing varietal. Tangy dried fruits will go well with brie while balancing the salty side of blue cheese.

Wine Bottle Workout: Try Our 2-Week Tone-Up Challenge

If your New Year’s resolution involves getting in shape, staying healthy, and actually using that gym membership this year, we can safely say you’re not alone. However, staying motivated as the months go by is half the challenge — unless you have a specific goal in mind. And at Ménage à Trois, we’re all for a little positive motivation (in the form of wine, no doubt). Plus, if your kind of workout involves our tempting varietals, then this challenge is definitely for you.

As much as we’d like to think lifting a wine glass to our lips is the only workout we need, getting toned requires a bit more heavy lifting. Luckily, these exercises still involve wine — two bottles, in fact. The challenge is simple, requires no gym equipment and can be done at home. The only items you need are two bottles of Ménage à Trois — any varietals will do.

The Ménage à Trois 2-Week Arm Tone-Up Challenge
Exercise 1: The Bent-Over Row
With a wine bottle in each hand, stand with your feet hip-distance apart and bend slightly at the knees while keeping your back almost parallel to the floor. Keeping your arms bent, squeeze your lats/shoulders together and hold at the top. Slowly lower back to your starting position. Do 10-12 reps.

Exercise 2: Lateral Arm Raises
Stand with your feet hip-distance apart. Hold a bottle in each hand with your palms facing down. Keeping your arms straight, slowly raise them up until they are parallel with the ground, then lower. Do 10-12 reps.

Exercise 3: Overhead Triceps Extensions
Stand with your feet hip-distance apart and hold one wine bottle above your head with both hands. Slowly bend at the elbows to lower the bottle behind your head. Extend your arms back up overhead. Do 10-12 reps.

Complete the circuit every other day (or every day, if you’re feeling ambitious) for two weeks for toner, tighter arm muscles. As a bonus, uncork and enjoy your bottles of wine after the challenge is complete!

Getting in shape is no sweat with this wine bottle workout.

DIY Projector Get-Together with Ménage à Trois Wines

You feel it, and it’s more than the nip of cooler air, or the leaves passionately becoming a landscape of orange and red inspiration. We’re talking about the feeling that comes this time of year, when you’re only desire is to get cozy with a few of the best people you know to clink a couple glasses of Ménage à Trois reds and give each other some real quality time.

Naturally, when we found out that there’s a DIY hack for making your own projector, we had to share it here. Depending on your group of friends, you’ve got an array of options to make your projector get-together one for the books: Create adorably embarrassing picture slideshows, stream movies, or even challenge your guests to a dance off while streaming classic music videos.

We’ll leave it up to you, as far as decorating the shoebox casing, though, we do adore and recommend using lots of glitter. That said, here are the basics you’ll need:
1. Shoebox (preferably one that’s dark inside)
2. Paperclip
3. Electrical or black duct tape
4. Magnifying glass (check dollar item retail shops)
5. Knife with razor edge
6. And, of course, a smartphone packed with media, memories, and music

We’ve provided a quick step-by-step, but we also suggest checking out any, many, and plenty of the videos you can find on the Internet.
1. First, you’ll want to break the handle off of the magnifying glass, if you haven’t already done so from excitement.
2. Now, with a steady hand, trace around the magnifying lens on the outside of the short side of your shoebox.
3. Carefully use your knife to cut inside of the tracing. Don’t cut too much, because you don’t want a lot of extra light getting in or out around the edges of your magnifying lens.
4. Poke or cut a small hole in the opposite end for your phone’s power cable.
5. Pre-cut about 10-15, 1-inch-long strips of electrical or black duct tape.
6. Fit the magnifying glass against the large hole and use your 1-inch-long strips of tape to hold the lens in place.
7. Bend your paperclip into a stand for your phone (look for a tutorial online for some help).
8. You’re going to need to flip the screen. Most smartphone users can find this feature under Settings > General > Accessibility, and you’ll be able to ‘rotate screen’ from there (again, there are so many tutorials online to help with this).
9. From here, just play around with your focus by moving the phone and stand closer to the lens or further away. It all depends on how big of an image you’re trying to cast. You’ll also want to check your brightness settings.
10. Hang up a white sheet or use a white wall, and bam, you’ve got a projector.
