Impress Your Guests With This Recipe for Mussels in Garlic Broth

With grand French vanilla and hints of deluxe sweet spice, before climaxing into a smooth, buttery finish, our Ménage à Trois Gold pairs perfectly in and with this September seafood recipe, creating the most sublime experience for you and your guests.

It’s no surprise that the inside of a mussel is an absolute delight, given its tough outer shell. Sautéed in garlic, thyme, and our Ménage à Trois Gold, these mussels will do more than just tickle your fancy.
 
What You Need (serves 4):
- 3 lbs. mussels
- 4 tbsp. butter
- 3 green onions, finely sliced
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 8-10 sprigs of thyme
- 1 cup Ménage à Trois Gold
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/3 cup fresh chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
 
Directions:
1. Scrub and wash mussels under cold water. Remove any mussels that remain open.
2. Over medium heat, melt the butter in a large saucepan.
3. Increase the heat to high, and sauté the green onions, garlic, and thyme for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add mussels and cover the pot.
5. Steam mussels for 6-8 minutes or until their shells have opened.
6. Remove the thyme sprigs.
7. Add the cream, Ménage à Trois Gold, parsley, salt, and pepper into the pot and mix gently.
8. Turn the heat to low and let the mussels soak for 2-3 minutes.
9. Serve and enjoy!

WINE ATTITUDE

At Ménage à Trois, we’ve been known to dabble in debauchery from time to time, indulging our passion for rich, luxurious wines. We set out to create the most lavish, over-the-top Cab we could. A wine so seductive it would make Casanova blush. A wine so extravagant it would make Louis XIV seem modest. A wine that would leave you wanting…more. So our winemakers let go of their inhibitions and crafted the most voluptuous, sumptuous, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon they could imagine—a wine that could only be called one thing: Ménage à Trois Decadence.

VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING

In true Ménage style, we love nothing better than a threesome, so we selected premium fruit grown in three of California’s finest wine growing regions known for producing grapes with exceptionally rich flavors and alluring aromas: Lodi/Delta, Monterey, and the North Coast. Our winemakers add just a touch of Merlot to the Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wine added depth and complexity. The wine is then infused with 40% French oak, which imparts a lavish mouthfeel and irresistibly sultry hints of vanilla spice. Every sip is proof that Decadence is liquid deliciousness.

It’s tailgating season, but that’s not why we’re here. We’re sinking our teeth into a delicious recipe of BBQ chicken wings that are marinated in our Ménage à Trois Silk and immersing ourselves in a rich dose of history about the origin of tailgating. 

Many presume this favored pre-sporting activity originated with Americans. However, its actual beginnings can be found back in ancient Greece, after which tailgating evolved in 18th-century France and moved its way through the rest of Europe. It finally popped up in American culture, where it has been the staple of our fall weekends ever since.

Although the time and place of tailgating have changed over the centuries, a few things remain the same; good food, drinks, and company are what make this tradition everlasting.

Ready to make history? Your next tailgate will be one for the books with a BBQ marinade that’s enriched with toasty spices and notes of berries from our delectable Ménage à Trois Silk.
 
What You Need:
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing
- 2 shallots, minced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup Ménage à Trois Silk
- 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
- 1 chipotle chili in adobo sauce, seeded and minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- Kosher salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- 12 mixed chicken drumsticks and thighs

What to Do:
1. Grill your drumsticks and thighs to your likeness.
2. Mix all of the ingredients together in a medium sized mixing bowl.
3. Add the ingredients into a saucepan.
4. Cook on medium to low heat for a few minutes.
5. Add the sauce to the drumsticks and thighs.
6. Serve and enjoy!

Like perfume, the more aromatic and muskier Bing Cherries are infamous for stimulating and arousing everyone’s lust for … well, let’s just say life.

Prep Time: 5 mins. Total Time: 5 mins.
 
Recipe Ingredients: Serves 2
- 8 oz Ménage à Trois Silk
- 2 tablespoon cherry juice concentrate
- 4 oz sparkling water
- 8-12 fresh Bing Cherries (they have dark red skin and a sweet juicy taste). You can also use frozen dark cherries. If you choose to use frozen cherries, simply use a few fresh cherries as garnish .

How to make:
1. Add wine and cherry juice concentrate to a shaker with ice.
2. Pour in glasses with ice.
3. Add sparkling water and dark cherries.
4. Top with mint for garnish (optional).

With fall just around the corner, we must savor our last moments of summer with nothing less than a fondue party. This fun party idea has all your friends gathered around the table for good food, delicious wine, and great company.

At a Ménage à Trois fondue party, spice and variety is what we aim for. And it’s no coincidence that there are three main types of fondue – melted cheese, melted chocolate, and an Asian hot-pot type where meat is cooked in oil, or broth. After all, Ménage à Trois believes three’s a charm. However, to keep things simple, we are suggesting two types of fondue recipes, and pairing them with two of our signature Ménage à Trois wines. 

So may be suggest Ménage à Trois Gold and cheeses to start, then our Midnight and desserts to finish the night on a bold and sweet as can be note.

Here Are Two Fondue Recipes To Keep Everyone On The Edge Of Their Seat.

What You'll Need To make This Traditional Cheese Fondue:
- 3-quart slow cooker
- 1 clove garlic, peeled, cut in half
- 2 1/2 cups room-temperature Ménage à Trois Gold
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 12-16 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
- 12-16 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3 tablespoons kirsch
- Freshly ground nutmeg and ground pepper and paprika
- 1 loaf crusty bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Your choice of fresh cut vegetables and fruits

How to Make It This Traditional Cheese Fondue:
1. Rub an enameled or stainless steel saucepan with cut garlic halves. 
2. Add the Ménage à Trois Gold and place the saucepan over medium heat.
3. Heat the wine until it is just beginning to bubble. Reduce heat to low and add lemon juice. Make sure not to overheat the cheese or can become lumpy.
4. In a bowl, combine cheeses and flour; gradually stir into the wine. Continue cooking, stirring to keep from sticking, until cheese is melted and well blended.
5. Grease slow cooker lightly or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
6. Pour cheese mixture into the prepared slow cooker. Add kirsch; stir well. Sprinkle with nutmeg, pepper, and paprika.
7. Cover and cook on HIGH for 20 to 25 minutes or until hot, then turn to LOW for 1 to 3 hours.
8. Keep the pot on LOW while serving.
9. Serve with fondue forks or picks and bread cubes.

Chocolate Fondue Fantasy Recipe:

- 1 pack (12-oz) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 c milk
- 1/4 c butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Fresh fruit
- Pound cake cubes

1. Combine semi-sweet chocolate morsels, sweetened condensed milk, milk, butter, and vanilla extract in electric fondue pot or medium saucepan.
2. Stir over medium heat until morsels are melted and mixture is smooth.
3. Serve with fruit and pound cake cubes for dipping. Makes about 3 cups of fondue. 

FUN FACT ABOUT FONDUE:
On a trip to Switzerland you can't help but notice that this Alpine nation is a melting pot of cultures, so it’s certainly fitting that it’s most widely recognized and best known dish – fondue – is a melting pot of flavors and aromas.

Fondue, which comes from the French “fondre”, meaning “to melt,” had its origins in 18th century Switzerland as a means for farm families to stretch their limited resources during the winter months. With some remaining cheese, some stale bread, and a dash of wine the family could gather around the hearth. In Alpine farm villages bread was baked only occasionally, so whatever bread was on hand was usually stale. By dipping the bread in the melted cheese, the bread was softened and became delectable. From these simple beginnings, fondue became a Swiss winter tradition.

The first written recipes for fondue appear in 18th century cookbooks published in France and Belgium, however they called for Gruyère, a decidedly Swiss cheese, so the Swiss rightfully deserved credit as the originators of fondue. Even though fondue may have had rural roots, its place at the Swiss table wasn't limited to the farmhouse and the peasant class; rather, it was more frequently enjoyed by people of means. 

To pay homage to the Swiss and their tradition for the cheese fondue dish we recommend enjoying some Swiss.

Recipe ingredients for the Balsamic Steak Skewers: (serves 4 skewers):
- ¼ cup of balsamic vinegar
- ¼ cup of barbecue sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 lb sirloin steak
- 2 cups of cherry tomatoes

How to make Your Balsamic Steak Skewers:
1. Cut the 1 lb sirloin steak into 1 inch cubes.
2. In a large bowl, mix the balsamic vinaigrette, barbecue sauce and Dijon mustard.
3. Marinate the steak in marinade.
4. Thread the beef and cherry tomatoes in an alternating pattern.
5. Grill skewers over a medium heat.
6. Cover grill and grill until the beef reaches preferred doneness.

With blackberry and raspberry notes, and rich full-bodied flavors, our California Red compliments this tortellini recipe's savory taste like no other.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10-15 minutes

Recipe Ingredients (serves 2):
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt
- 3 tbsp sun-dried tomatoes, drained of oil, chopped
- ½ lb asparagus, ends trimmed, cut in half
- 2 tbsp basil pesto
- ½ cup cherry tomatoes, yellow and red, halved
- ½ cup uncooked tortellini

How to make:
1. In a medium-sized skillet on medium heat, add 1 tbsp of olive oil.
2. Add salt, sun-dried tomatoes and asparagus and cook for 5-10 minutes (until the asparagus is cooked through).
3. Remove the chicken and sun-dried from the skillet, leaving the oil in.
4. Remove the asparagus and set aside on a serving plate.
5. Cook the tortellini by the packaging instructions. 
6. Add pesto, tortellini, halved yellow and red cherry tomatoes to the skillet on low heat for 1-2 minutes. Add more salt if needed.
7. Mix all the ingredients into a serving plate or bowl.
8. Enjoy!
